Al Bush

Board of Advisors

Albert E. Bush is a native of Waterloo, Iowa. He studied at Drake University and completed both Bachelor and MBA degrees at the University of Tulsa.

Mr. Bush managed the Oral Roberts Association businesses for 15 years including the organization of the mass media functions, periodical publishing and distribution and the international business functions.  He established business offices in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.  Mr. Bush was a member of the Oral Roberts University Founding Board.

Mr. Bush led the formation of The Mentor Corporation, one of the first publicly owned data service companies.  He managed the business to profitability, conducted a successful IPO and, ultimately, sold the company to The Williams Companies.

Mr. Bush then joined Williams where he completed the sales of companies Williams acquired in business consolidation plans, acquired the Kerr McGee fertilizer retail outlets and arranged a joint equity interest for Williams in the Tampa Bay Port Facilities.  In 1980 he became president of Williams’ Agrico Retail Company, a marketer of crop yield programs operating in 24 states.

In 1982 Mr. Bush formed Crop Production Services, Inc., to acquire Agrico Retail Company from Williams.  He reconfigured the investment by selling assets in low fertilizer-consuming counties and refocused Agrico from a commodity fertilizer company to a specialized chemical company providing its customers with customized crop growing services.  As a result of these strategies, annual sales increased from $95 million to $450 million and the company was sold in 1994.

A long-time member of Southern Hills Country Club, Mr. Bush served on the Board of Governors for ten years, chaired various committees and was elected President in 2005.  He served as the Club's marketing chairman for the 1977 U.S. Open, the 1982 and 1994 PGA, and the 1995 and 1996 PGA Tour Golf Championships.  He was General Chairman for the 2001 U.S. Open Golf Championship and is the General Chairman for the 2007 PGA Golf Championship.

Over the years Mr. Bush has served on advisory boards and committees of various Tulsa charitable and civic organizations including the United Way, Tulsa Housing Authority, Metropolitan Tulsa YMCA, Metro Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, Arts and Humanities Council, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Kiwanis International. He has been a member of the Young Presidents' Organization and the World Presidents' Organization.  He was a founder and director of United Bank, a director of Boulder Bank, and a Trustee of Oral Roberts University.  He is an Elder at Tulsa’s First Presbyterian church where he directed the endowment policies and practices.
